Caribbean Stud Poker
Caribbean stud poker is similar to five card stud poker, and it is a casino table game. However, unlike standard poker games, this game has some different rules; here everybody plays in opposite to the room or casino which acts as a dealer (bank), disbursing all winning wagers. To win one has to outsmart dealer’s hand and beating other player’s hand does not make any difference. There is no deception or other bluffing. This is the reason, that most poker players do not consider Caribbean stud poker as a type of poker. Here we deal with some of the typical US casinos’ rules, but some of the particulars (like limits and payouts) differ from casino to casino.
To start the game each player lays his initial blind bet (ante) on the set up indicated; all ante bets must be put up before the dealer’s announcement of ‘No more bets’. Next, all players and the dealer are dealt 5 cards, face down. The dealer gets 4 cards face down and one card face up. The dealer then pushes the cards in the direction of players, after this the players looks into their cards. The players can only view their cards but should not talk about it to any other participant on the table.
Players can avail the alternative to fold or play; if they prefer to play, they lay their wager (double the quantity of their respective initial blind bet) in the wager box. If they prefer to fold, they lose their ante. The hole cards are revealed by the dealer only after decisions made by each player. The dealer plays his hand only if he has an ace/king or higher, then equates his cards with other players’ cards (right to left, separately), and the winner is decided with the best poker hand.
Caribbean stud poker has some major rules which should be followed always are:
- Players should not hold or bet on more than one hands at the table, that is, one hand per player.
- Players should not communicate or exchange details concerning their hands to the dealer or any other player. Violation to this may result in forfeiture of the bets or dead hand.
- A push or dead hand may occur if wrong amount of cards appears (only for the specific player).
- Final decision is of the casino/table supervisor.
- The dealer will carry on an extra card to finish the hand if he is distributed four cards of the five-card hand. All hands will become void if any other incorrect deal to the dealer has taken place, and the cards will be reshuffled.
- At all time every player is needed to keep the five cards in complete watch of the dealer. The cards should not be touched by the players once they have probed his/her cards and laid them face down.
- All hands will become void, if a hole card is disclosed earlier to the dealer’s announcement ‘No More Bets’.
